Sayer is the experiment's only finished product — code name "Devil" — a man who cannot quite die, because every near-death moment drags his time back and lets him choose again. Chu Si's own time, meanwhile, runs fifty years out of step with everyone else's. Childhood sweethearts of a sort, enemies on paper, the two dive into the torrent of time to save it — and each other.
